Once I saw a hummingbird in Cornwall, it was almost like a big bee, but with a long beak. It was, near Perranporth, I was surprised when hummingbirds usually live in tropical conditions.
You're in the UK! Hummingbirds are native to the New World only. Depending on the species, ranging from Tierra del Fuego (South America) through the Caribbean islands during the breeding season they migrate to the United States, Canada and Alaska. We have several species here in Colorado, USA. Nests on the extent to which the tree vegetation. The main species that I see in our yard are red, Calliope and a broad tail. For their size, are very aggressive. In the ancient world, the flow of nectar Sunbird niche. If I saw was a hummingbird is a fugitive from a zoo or arboretum. It will not last long in the forests of Europe, I assure you. Hello! I have a question about honey bees in the name of my grandfather!?

Hello! My grandfather was a question about bees and sugar water. It has a big garden, likes to help the bees to pollinate it. They also feed on sugar water for hummingbirds in the region. Well, the swarm of bees in the water, sugar and get there before the birds can! This is not really a problem (can not turn off the feeders more), but is concerned about whether or not the sugar water would harm the bees. Presumably (in my opinion), the nectar that bees do not consume is anyway close to the formula molecular water with sugar, would be good. However, if the bees are the "nectar" of the feeds in lieu of flowers would be a little pollination slow, right? But back to my question: water HURT sweet honey bees? Thanks for the tips! I will choose a best answer tonight!

No, not harm guarapo bees. Sugar cane is only glucose, one of the most common sugar in plants (with sucrose). But yes, because they can get all the sugar more water, will be much less effective for pollination.

Important Dietary Supplement

Hummingbird Feeders dispense liquid, no seeds. The cornerstone of the diet consists Hummingbird insects and spiders. The liquid in the charger is more like "emergency rations" their birds. During a typical day of a hummingbird collecting nectar Flower of around 100 different. Avoid flowers with nectar containing less than 25% sugar.

History of Horse Feed

Nobody knows for certain how long people have tried to attract hummingbirds to your garden. Perhaps the time that mankind has had an appreciation of beauty. The hummingbird has certainly existed for a long time. Hummingbird remains recently found in the fossils date Germany 30 million years ago! Today These days, the only hummingbirds in the world again. With his lightning speed and feathers iridescent jewel as they have always captured the imagination of man. A geoglyphs mysterious (portraits of large prints in the dust of the plains of Nazca in Peru) is a hummingbird. So vast is only visible from the air, the hummingbird goes back to 200 BC-600AD hummingbird and is probably strongest in the world.

The first commercial hummingbird feeder was introduced in 1950 by the Audubon Society New in Medina, New York. He was a glass tube feeder and immediately became popular in the U.S. It was designed by Laurence J. Webster, of Boston, as a gift for his wife, I had read an article in the 1928 edition of National Geographic magazine. The story goes that it was possible to feed the hummingbirds of a glass bottle. Webster has designed a feeder and was produced by a glass blower at MIT. August, 1947 edition of National Geographic magazine published an article by Harold Edgerton, who, using his newly invented Strobe Flash, hummingbirds photographed charger Webster. The rest, as they say, is history. Given the success of Webster, men should listen more closely to their wives!

Modern horse feed

Over the past 50 years that followed the introduction of the first feeder many styles and designs have come and gone. Today, the feeders are usually made of ceramic, glass, plastic, or a combination of these materials. For the most part, are divided into two types, bowls and bottle feeders.

Here are some considerations important when selecting a hummingbird feeder;

Color is important. Red is the color of your choice. Most flowers are a natural source of hummingbird nectar are colored red, pink or coral. Do not use a charger that has parts yellow, yellow attracts bees.

Select charger designed for Bee-proof, unless you want to attract bees, hummingbirds instead.

Select one magazine that provides the beam of a hummingbird. Although normally the hummingbirds hovering before a flower while feeding, they like to relax while feeding. Although they being a single flower for a few seconds, gathering the nectar that is not there, still in the drawer until it drank from its waters. Treating a seated dinner.

A crib with a bottle of reserve protects the nectar of infection bacterial contamination by insects and putrefaction. It is important to protect the health of the hummingbirds.

Select a charger that is easy to disassemble, clean and refill. Maintaining a supply of fresh water, clean nectar is of vital importance to the welfare of your hummingbirds.

Choose a charger which has a gap of ant, or a similar device to prevent insects from contaminating the nectar in their diet.

Fancy glass and ceramic feeders are attractive, but because of its design, which are difficult to clean and tend to flow, which attracts bees, ants and wasps. These insects can be trapped in the charger, contaminating the nectar.

The National Audubon Society recommends to clean their food once a week. To clean your charger use ¼ cup of white vinegar and 1 cup water. After cleaning, wash the tray 3 times with fresh water.

Placement its feeder

When hanging your feeder is almost as important as the shipper of your choice. Here are some tips on foster care hummingbird.

Put your link that will be observed by hummingbirds and is easily accessible to them. Do not worry if birds do not appear immediately. Hummingbirds are very curious. It find it.

If possible, do not close the Uploader window. They may be wounded by shrapnel in the crystal. If you have no other option, the images above, or stickers, large birds in your window to keep from getting too close hummingbirds.

Definitely put your feeder where you can see. The antics of these little miracles of nature are better than anything you see on cable TV – to Unless you're seeing in hummingbirds.

If you replace your old charger with a new holiday enforcement official of age with new services vacuum for a while, until the hummingbirds recognized as a new food source.

For those of you who live in northern states in February may seem a strange time to think of hummingbirds, but residents of Florida and the states of Gulf these intercontinental travelers tiny first exit then reappears.

After spending the winter in Mexico and Central America, are going to be hungry when they reach our shores – so hungry!, especially those who have just completed the 20 hours, 450 miles non-stop journey across the Gulf of Mexico. They go into a frenzy feeding before taking flight, increasing their body weight 25 to 40 percent. Normally, they eat 3 to 5 times an hour just to maintain their weight and keep it alive. When they come here, we use the excess stored energy and be more than willing to eat.

The first ones are those who spend the summer in the states the south, where the flowers that depend for their survival and are in bloom. Over the next few months will keep coming, not the waves, but at the same time. Hummingbirds do not migrate in herds. They are flying solo. If you look at the right time and have an excellent view, you see low flying into the trees, pausing frequently for food. The newcomers are the ones who spend the summer in northern states and Canada.

In May, they returned to their summer homes all across North America, referring generally to the same gardens and feeders that have stopped falling when the fall migration has begun. Hummingbirds who survive the early years have a precarious life of 3 to 4 years, so you can expect to see his old friends return year after year.

The expansion of civilization urban areas has reduced feeding hummingbirds, it is important for those of us who have a garden or space to hang a hummingbird feeder to hang a feeder plant flowers and just ahead of his return.

Bees and hummingbirds take nectar from flowers identical. To return please pollinate the flowers. The flowers favored by hummingbirds have a sugar content of about 25%. They do not eat with a sugar content of 10 to 15%. The Most hummingbirds pollinate the flowers that are red, pink and orange in color. For this reason, the best horse red food are brilliant. When choosing a shipper, Remember the following points:

"Proof Bee feeder with a red base is preferable to all others. If your charger is not the Bee-May show you attract more bees to hummingbirds.

The crib should have a perch. Hummingbirds feed in flight, but a perch providing precious energy records.

The charger should have an ant moat to prevent contamination of the nectar.

When the nectar for food, using only sugar white granules. Do not use packaged food hummingbird, brown sugar, turbinado sugar or a sugar manufacturer, or honey.

The following is a list of "friends Hummingbird" flowers, vines and shrubs:

Perennials:
Bee balm
Butterfly Herbs
Columbine
Cosmos
Dahlia
Foxglove
Fuchsia
Geranium
Malva
Red hot poker
